ESG
ESG(Emerald Sapphire and Gold)
come away with ESG
originally released in 1983
re released by souljazz records
I just picked this up. Its really nice. Its really simple hard hitting funk bass lines. Its dance music made without electronic instruments. You can really hear the influence they've had on contemporary acts like the Rapture or LCD Soundsystem.

A Rainy Night in Shibuya: A Sea of Umbrellas
The rain falls thick and heavy.
The air cool and perfectly humid.
The sky above an array of oranges reflected from the city, creating a deception of blackness. Lights flash in seemingly endless patterns.
The rain pitter-patters of the tops of millions of umbrellas carried by this spectacle's participants, the rain drops shattering into countless smaller drops; gently gracing faces, hitting the pavement below.
The umbrellas, rivaling the city's lights in their color and variety, dance and mingle, occasionally colliding and kissing, as the perpetual stream of strangers connect through the intersection.
The pink light of an advertisement shines brilliantly and vividly through the filter of a transparent umbrella, lighting our temporary community.
i walk through a shallow puddle.
The rain runs gently down my back.
And the night is perfect.

Photographs
1. Today on my way to work I saw a man wearing an apron in front of a garage. He was smashing empty beer bottles in a big blue plastic garbage can. He was smashing them at regular intervals. He looked angry as he threw each one in a can
2. Tonight on the way home, a little girl ran out of a chinese restaurant with a toy gun. The gun had a really cool blue light that shined when she pressed the trigger.
3. Near my house their is a drug store. In front of the store is a parking lot. Tonight as I was walking home, one of the staff who was wearing a blue pharmacist shirt, was putting poles in the ground that hold a chain to block off the parking lot. They don't want anyone to park there at night. As he put the pole into the ground water came out of the hole.
